Welcome to CrossLens. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Android application.
Local Storage: Currently, CrossLens is designed with an offline-first architecture. Your reading preferences, saved stories, home region, selected sources, and display preferences are stored locally on your device using Android DataStore and Room database. We do not transmit this personal reading data to our servers.
Future Features & Syncing: As we introduce backend services, features like CrossLens Plus and cross-device syncing may require the collection of basic account information (such as email address) and subscription status. Any data transmitted will be encrypted in transit and handled securely.
To ensure a reliable experience, we may use third-party services for crash reporting and analytics (such as Google Analytics for Firebase or Crashlytics). These services collect anonymous, non-personally identifiable information (such as device type, OS version, and crash logs) to help us improve the app.
In-app purchases and subscriptions for CrossLens Plus are processed entirely by the Google Play Store. We do not collect, process, or store your payment details (such as credit card numbers). Please refer to Google's privacy policy for more information on how they handle payment data.
CrossLens aggregates news content from various global publishers. We may use third-party APIs to provide translation services. When a translation is requested, the text of the article is sent to the translation provider. We do not associate these requests with your personal identity.
Since your reading history and preferences are stored locally on your device, you have complete control over this data. You can delete this data at any time by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the application.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as we add new features (such as live backend integration and accounts). We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy and, if necessary, providing a notice within the app.
